Every year, approximately 2 million tourists choose beautiful Turin as a cultural destination for their travels.
In addition to being known as the former capital of Italy , Turin is highly appreciated for its vast cultural and naturalistic heritage : with its 4 rivers and its parks, it is the seventh greenest city in Italy . A truly excellent result for a metropolis that is also very active from a commercial and industrial point of view.

Visit Turin in one day

If you have little time available, your visit can only focus on the historic Turin of the city center , pleasant to discover even on rainy days thanks to the 18 km of arcades that connect Via Roma, Piazza Castello and the majestic Piazza Vittorio.

Let's start exploring its main and unmissable attractions.

The shopping street: Via Roma

Today known as one of the main shopping streets, Via Roma is located in the city center in a strategic position. Accessing from Piazza Carlo Felice, in front of the Porta Nuova train station, you can walk along the portico that leads to Piazza San Carlo and then to Piazza Castello.
The numerous shops under the portico follow one after the other without stopping up to Piazza Castello: from big names to the most famous clothing chains , Via Roma offers shopping opportunities for all tastes .

San Federico Gallery

Always very suggestive is the visit to the Galleria San Federico, accessible on foot from Via Roma. Its architecture and its majesty allow you to savor the Turin of times gone by thanks also to the presence of the historic Cinema Lux , inaugurated in 1934 and recently renovated.
Due to its beauty and architectural complexity, the gallery was chosen as the set for some scenes from the films “Deep Red” and “Giallo” by the famous director Dario Argento .

Castle Square, Royal Palace, Madama Palace

The main hub of the city centre, Piazza Castello is the meeting point of the main streets of the centre of Turin: Via Po, Via Pietro Micca, Via Roma and Via Garibaldi.
In the same square are located the Royal Palace , the historic residence of the Savoy family, and Palazzo Madama , home to numerous temporary exhibitions.
Both buildings are accessible to visitors and a visit is highly recommended.

For all information on ticket prices and opening hours of the Royal Palace, you can visit the official website of the Royal Museums of Turin.

Po Street

From Piazza Castello you can reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto by walking along the beautiful Via Po, an arcaded street full of shops, book and craft stalls and cafés.
Every day, hundreds of students from the University of Turin cross Via Po to go to Palazzo Nuovo, the main building of the humanities faculties of this university.
The walk along Via Po is fascinating and evocative , pleasant even on gloomy days thanks to the vast portico that extends to the top of Piazza Vittorio Veneto.

The Mole Antonelliana

A stone's throw from Via Po is the majestic Mole Antonelliana, symbol of the city of Turin. Designed as a place of worship for the Israelites in 1863, in modern times it also became the seat of the National Cinema Museum , one of the most important museums in the world for the vastness and richness of its heritage.
Visiting the Mole Antonelliana, you can reach the “Tempietto” located 85 meters high on foot or by elevator: from this panoramic point, the view is truly breathtaking .

Tickets for the visit to the Mole Antonelliana and the National Museum of Cinema can be purchased separately or in a single package on the official website of the National Museum of Cinema.

Piazza Vittorio and the Church of the Great Mother of God

Walking a few hundred meters further along Via Po you reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the largest porticoed square in Europe .
In Piazza Vittorio there is no shortage of opportunities to enjoy an excellent meal or an aperitif and it is, for this reason, one of the most popular places for nightlife , also thanks to the density of means of transport that pass through the square.
Visiting Piazza Vittorio it will be impossible not to notice the beautiful Church of the Gran Madre di Dio , one of the most important religious buildings in Turin and the subject of numerous esoteric legends on the theme of the Holy Grail.
